Foam encapsulation places dense foam walls around a pocket-spring or hybrid spring core. The foam border increases edge support so the surface resists collapse when someone sits or sleeps near the perimeter. Encapsulation is a structural edge treatment, not a comfort-foam brand name or decorative side panel.

Definition. Foam encapsulation is a high-density foam border around a spring unit. It stiffens the mattress perimeter and reduces edge collapse under seated or sleep loads.

Encapsulation density and height determine how much the perimeter resists compression relative to the spring core. Cosmetic side panels alone do not constitute structural foam encapsulation.
